On May 21, 2022, with the theme of let's explore carbon science together, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Process Research successfully held the 8th Public Science Day and the branch event of Qingdao Science and Technology Week. In the Little Funny Experiment section, our research group provided a creative small experiment titled wide application of bacterial cellulose produced by bacteria. In the explanation section, everyone learned about the structural composition and production process of bacterial cellulose, as well as its potential applications as a substitute material in other various fields. In the practical stage, the visiting students experienced the differences of bacterial cellulose membranes in the dry and wet states. They also embraced the conductivity charm of bacterial cellulose membranes with special substances, and also tasted the delicious coconut products. The whole activity allowed participants to learn scientific knowledge in the process of exploration that could not be learned in the classroom or books. Everyone has personally experienced the wonders of science, broadened their horizons, and sparked interest in exploring the mysteries of science.
